HENRY JACOB MARTENS It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Henry on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at St. Boniface Hospital. He was 77 years old. Henry will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Lois; son Brian, daughter Linda, sister Lydia, nephew Mark, grandchildren Andrew, Daniel, and Larissa as well as numerous close friends and relatives. Henry was predeceased by his son Daryl in 2005. Henry was born on December 19, 1930 in Winnipeg. He will be remembered best as a very friendly man, and a fatherly figure to many of his children's friends. Henry was a gentle spirit who loved dogs and the great outdoors. In his earlier years, he took his family on annual camping trips, instilling a love of nature in his children. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency for their help and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Viewing one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's name may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler Ave @ Henderson Hwy 668-3151

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Lois, Brian, Linda and family: Will always remember the kind, generous and easy-going spirit of Hank and the love of the outdoors to Winnipeg Beach and the target practice we shared. Also remember the occasional trip to A&W. Always remembered and respected. - Posted by: Ron Fernstrom (earlier friend of brian's (circa 1970's) and family acquaintance) on: Nov 01, 2013

  • Dear Lois (and family) We were saddened to hear of Hank's passing. My (Dave) memories of Hank go back some 55 years, when Hank used to visit at the farm in Springfield before you were married. He always enjoyed a good joke and was fun to have around! We are praying for you and trust you will find comfort and strength in the Lord Jesus both today and in the days to come. Love, Dave and Karen. - Posted by: Dave and Karen Dunn (Family) on: Jan 10, 2008
