Date of Passing: Dec 31, 1969
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HOLUB It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and grandfather on December 27, 2007 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. He will be dearly missed by his children, Joan (Ron), Darlene (Vince), Marilyn (Don); grandchildren, Jackie (Jeremy), Deborah, Karen, Jason (Lisa), Tara; sister Anne Hayes; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary in 2004. Dad was born August 18, 1918 in Winnipeg. As a young man, he was a gifted athlete, excelling in baseball and hockey. He was a very personable man with a quick wit and sense of humour and was loved by neighbours and friends alike. He never hesitated to help out in difficult situations be it with family or friends. Dad was an avid sports fan and enjoyed nothing more than watching his favourite baseball, football and hockey teams on T.V. His other interests included visits to the Casino and Assiniboia Downs. Our family spent several enjoyable Dad Birthdays in the Turf Club at the Downs. His love of animals particularly dogs was evident throughout his life. Dad was employed with the Canadian Pacific Railway for 27 years. He also worked for various automotive dealerships well into his seventies. Dad enjoyed a long, full life with few medical challenges. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Aoki for his many years of devoted care and friendship. Cremation has taken place as per Dad's wishes. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in John's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or to a charity of one's choice. Dad we will miss you dearly.
