ADELINA GAGNE / VALOIS / ROY Le 8 janvier, quelques jours avant son 86ième anniversaire, Adélina / Gagné / Valois / Roy, entourée de sa famille, a répondu à l'appel de son créateur. Mom was born in Saint-Pierre-Jolys in 1922, on January 12. She passed away just a few days short of her 86th birthday. Elle est allée retrouver les parents qu'elle avait tant aimés: son père, Jean Léon Gagné, sa mère, Adéline (née Fontaine). She was the tenth child in a loving family of 14. Ses frères et soeurs qui l'ont précédée dans la mort sont: Anne-Marie Lacoste, Hormidas, Joseph, Soeur Yvonne, petit Léon, Léa Bellerive, Omer, Aline, Léon, Albert, Lionel. Her first husband, Gérard Valois, passed away in 1953. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Randy and Paul. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux, l'amour de sa vie et son ami de jeunesse, Edmond Roy ainsi que ses enfants Ronald (Suzanne), Gérald (Diane), Joanne Lavallée (Brian), Robert et Jacqueline (Champagne). She leaves behind two sisters: Rita Préfontaine (feu Gilbert) and Corinne Montsion (Louis) and two sisters-in-law: Edith (feu Albert) et Edmée (feu Léon) Gagné. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well as special friends of the family, Lorraine and Sandra. She was close to many nieces and nephews who will also miss her very much. En plus d'être épouse et mère de famille dévouée, Adélina (Dada) fut aussi enseignante à Saint-Georges, La Broquerie, Saint-Vital, Saint-Boniface et Saint-Pierre-Jolys. Mom taught for many years, starting out in the small one room schools and eventually teaching high school in Saint-Pierre before moving to Saint-Boniface and teaching at Provencher School and finally, Ecole Lacerte. Her love for education even saw her get involved as a school trustee at one point. Adélina fut directrice de chorale à Saint-Pierre et à l'Eglise Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens et organisatrice de la liturgie. Nombreux sont les enfants qui ont reçu ses cartes personnalisées lors de leur confirmation et leur première communion. After retiring from teaching mom devoted much of her time to the exceptional choir at her church. She was an enthusiastic good Christian woman who would spend much of her free time knitting bags of mitts and scarves and sewing oven mitts and pot holders for the Christmas Cheerboard. Tous se souviendront de sa compassion, son tact, sa générosité et son très profond respect des gens. Her sharp mind and her constant interest in our daily lives made her a cherished listener. La vie ne l'a pas ménagée dans ses dernières années mais elle a souffert avec courage et dignité. Elle a été une inspiration pour nous tous et continuera de l'être pour toujours. Her profound faith has now reunited her with all those whom she loved and who preceded her in the after world. And, guess what? No more pain Mom! L'admiration et l'amour que tu avais pour tes parents, chère maman, c'est nous qui l'avons pour toi. La messe funéraire aura lieu vendredi, le 11 janvier à 14 heures, à l'Eglise Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, 289, avenue Dussault.
