MARJORIE THERESA DYCE (nee BEEK) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Marjorie (Madge) Theresa Dyce on January 8, 2008 at Golden Links Lodge. Left to mourn are her children, Sharon (Rick), Alwyn, Beatrice, Bobby (Amanda); grandchildren, Kevin, Kris, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, Trysten, Ava and her devoted friend Valsie DaSilva. She was predeceased by her husband Alton Dyce, her mother Mabel (nee Beek), and her second mother Beatrice Stephenson. Mom was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, where she grew up and entered the field of education. It was here that she met Alton Dyce whom she married in February of 1954. In 1963, the family immigrated to Canada, living in Port Coquitlam, BC, and Windsor, Ontario, before settling in Winnipeg in 1969. Mom worked at St. Boniface General Hospital for over 25 years where she enjoyed her time working with the newborns in the Neonatal Unit. It is here that she forged many lasting friendships with her fellow colleagues. Upon her retirement from the hospital, she joyfully devoted herself to being a full-time grandmother. In her spare time she very much enjoyed reading, sewing, dancing and shopping. Mom's love of life and strength of spirit was evident to all who knew her. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1997, Mom was fortunate to move into Golden Links Lodge the following year. For over nine years, Mom was the recipient of gentle, compassionate care from the Lodge's staff. Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to both the current and former staff of the Special Needs Unit and One North. The care and support shown to Mom and our family by everyone there helped sustain us during this difficult time. Also, we would like to extend our gratitude to Elda Borse, her initial caregiver and friend of the family. Thanks also to family and friends for their support. Funeral Liturgy will take place 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road at Drake with the Reverend Father Fred Olds presiding. If friends so desire donations may be made to Golden Links Lodge, the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of one's choice. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope and its endurance. I Corinthians 13:7 BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
