Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN GALBRAITH Peacefully on January 9, 2008, in the arms of his wife, Allan passed away at home. Honouring his memory, Allan leaves, the love of his life for 30 years, his wife Linda, daughter Jamie and granddaughter Kaylyn; brothers, Robert, Larry, and sister Patricia Farley; mother-in-law Kay Luch; numerous brothers and sisters -in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Allan was predeceased by his parents Joyce and Harry and father-in-law Mike Luch. Allan was born in 1948 and resided in East Kildonan. He attended St. John's Boys School and Elmwood High School. Allan enjoyed many challenging experiences. He joined the Winnipeg Police Service in 1966 and retired in 2004. He later joined the Manitoba Securities Commission Investigation Unit. He loved both careers. Allan's easy going personality made him a friend to everyone he met. He has remained close with past co-workers. Allan believed in giving back to his community. He was deeply involved and committed to: The Winnipeg Police Credit Union Board as Vice President Secretary, Director; The Winnipeg Police Association as Vice President, Treasurer, Director; The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics as Treasurer; Stony Mountain Masonic Lodge AF AM, Master, Secretary; E.K. Job's Daughters, Northwest Child and Family Services, Balmoral Hall School Library. His volunteer efforts were acknowledged with many awards and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. Allan and Linda traveled to parts of North and South America, Asia, Europe and Antarctica. They appreciated and enjoyed the world's people. Allan was a dignified and dedicated family man who exemplified Christian values in everything he did. He enjoyed, encouraged and supported his family to grow in independence and in their own fields of endeavour. One of his greatest joys was the visits from family and friends. Reading, music and mind games were an integral part of his life. Allan always had a book in hand and loved the challenge of daily chess, weekly cribbage and monthly card games. Allan's true strength of character shone through as he battled brain cancer over the past 18 months. He was loving and kind in all his ways; ethical and proud to the end of his days. Sincere and truthful in heart and mind and what beautiful memories he has left behind. Allan was blessed with many friends who were with him till the end, and shared in our loss. The family will always be grateful for their loving presence. We wish to thank all of those who have touched Allan's life; for the handicap renovations, food, flowers, cards, letters, gifts, visits, phone calls, prayers and sympathies. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Springs Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing one hour prior to service. Pallbearers will be nephews Craig Knettle, Justin Luch, Chris Boychuk, Taylor Gerbinski, friends Eric Will and Gary Simpson. Attending will be The Winnipeg Police Honour Guards.
