Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE KOSHMAN Peacefully on January 9, 2008, Rose Koshman passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Home surrounded by her family. Rose was born on March 31, 1916, at home in Shillingthorpe, SK. She leaves in mourning, daughters Nina (Gordon) Duke, Shirley MacKay (Pat Hampshire), grandchildren Susan (Doug) Zajac, Steven (Kristine) Duke, great-granddaughters Courtney and Janine Zajac, also brothers Peter (Helen), Paul (Gay) Smandych and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Mike she was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Lena Smandych, and her five brothers James, John, Nick, William and George, two sisters Dora Kropp and Mary Koroluk. She was raised and educated in Kamsack, SK, where she met her husband Mike. They were married in 1936 and moved to Geraldton, ON, where Mike was working for CNR. In 1945 they settled in Sioux Lookout, ON, where they built a home and raised their two daughters. Rose spent 53 years in Sioux Lookout where she made many friends. Her hospitality was second to none. Her biggest passion was working in the kitchen. No one left her home feeling as if they had imposed on her or went away hungry. In the summer time Rose could often be seen working in her flower gardens and numerous times she won the award for property of the week. Mom also enjoyed many bingo excursions with her best friends Anne and Lil. In 1997 because of ill health Rose moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. She lived on her own until such time as her health made it necessary to enter KPCC. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Thomas and the 3rd floor staff at KPCC for all the care they gave Rose and to our friend Faye for her many visits to Mom. We will miss you Mom, Grandma, Baba. A celebration of Rose's life will be held on January 14, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews United Church, Sioux Lookout, Ontario.
