ETHEL VOKEY (nee NEWBIGGIN) Softly and tenderly on December 28, 2007 at the age of 86, our Lord called our dear mother home. A family graveside service was held on January 5, 2008 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A celebration of her life will be held on March 15, 2008 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. at 1:00 p.m. Ethel was born on October 23, 1921 in Winnipeg where she lived her entire life. Mom married our wonderful father Wally and shared 49 happy years. Mom was predeceased by Dad in 1992 and her youngest son Jim in 1986. Mom was also predeceased by her four brothers, Fred, Bill, George and Gerald Newbiggin and her sisters, Pearl McPike and Kay Furnival. Mom is survived by her son Ken (Carol), daughter Judy (Keith) and daughter-in-law Cynthia (John Sobczak). Mom cherished her eight grandchildren, Shawna (Sheri), Kimberley (Dion), Doug (Anne) David (Kassi), Danny (Charlene) Diana (Nick), Russ (Shelley) and Jaclyn and her beloved great-grandchildren Brooke, Hope, Kaine and Grace. She will be missed by her sister Geraldine (Orv Salter) and sisters-in-law Betty Vokey and Jen (Jim) Fardy and dearly loved nieces, nephews and many special friends. God made a wonderful Mother, A Mother who'd never grow old, He made her smile from the sunshine, He moulded her heart with pure gold, He made her as nearly an angel, As anyone ever could be, God made a wonderful Mother, And he gave that dear Mother to me. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Mom, you will be in our hearts forever.
