Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN JEAN CHLAN (nee HIGHT) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ellen Chlan aged 64 years; Thursday, January 10, 2008 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Ruth Hight and brother-in-law Howie Merritt. She will be lovingly remembered by her loving sons, John (Barb), Mike and Dan (Shelly), sister Norma (Ellen's partner in crime), her pride and joy of her life Sidnie, Logan, Mark, Wade, Dustin, Anne-Marie, and Joseph, nieces Christine (Wes), Nancy, nephew Kevin, as well as her husband Wally, and sister in law Jean Bunce. Ellen was born on November 26, 1943 in Montreal PQ and moved to Winnipeg with her parents Cecil and Ruth Hight along with her older sister Norma in 1955. She attended St. Mary's Academy and the University of North Dakota. She spent countless hours while her boys grew up volunteering at school fundraisers, heading up the West Kildonan Community Centre canteen, running the North Winnipeg Nomads Bingo. All to ensure that her boys had the best opportunities and fun growing up. She made sure that we all made it on time to the hockey, Soccer and football games and with no doubt was the biggest fan of all their sports teams and endeavors. Mom was always at her happiest at family gatherings when we were all together. With out question she could have owned and operated her own restaurant. Her talent of cooking will surely be missed. She truly enjoyed going to concerts with her sister Norma, and making what always turned out to be a great story in their trips to the U.S. She made many great friends over the years and will dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Ellen will be laid to rest in the family plot at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A special thank you to the emergency services; Winnipeg Police Department and the Winnipeg Fire department and Ambulance that assisted Ellen's family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ellen to Victoria General Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD 982-7550
