DAVID ROSS It is with great sadness that the family of David Ross announces his passing at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88 years on Friday, January 11, 2008. David is survived by his nieces, Christine (Russ), Roslyn (Rick), Morag and Tammy. Great-nephews, Ross (Amanda, Hunter, Connor, Brody), and Jason. Great-nieces, Heather (Mark, Allyson, Nathan) and April (Christopher and Sarah). As well as cousins in Scotland, and many friends. David was predeceased by his father Hugh in 1957, his mother Margaret in 1987, his sister Peggy McInnes in 1991, brother in law Sam in 1998 and niece Sandra in 1988. David was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada with his parents and sister at a young age. They settled first in Nordeg, Alberta and then in Winnipeg. David graduated from Kelvin High School in 1938. He served in the Second World War overseas in the Medical Corp/Hygiene Section. David was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Duke of Kent branch for over 50 years. David was employed by Gimli Fisheries in Winnipegosis and retired from CIBC after 26 years of service. In his younger days David enjoyed, curling, bowling, and traveling. He made a couple of trips back to his birthplace. David had a great love for classical music, especially Beethoven and Mozart. He also loved opera and attended the Manitoba Opera and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for many years. David was also an avid reader, especially history books, biographies, and music books. David always said, a day without Mozart is like a day without sunshine. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and Misericordia Place for the care they gave David. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with David's wishes there will be no service. If friends so desire you can make a donation to a charity of your choice. We love you and miss you.
