Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE POLDEN Joyce Polden passed away peacefully at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home on January 11,2008. Born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1917 to Peter and Louisa Davies, she was raised in Rosetown and left home at 18 for nurses' training in Saskatoon. She married George, the first love of her life, on August 2, 1941. After the war they moved to Winnipeg. Besides nursing she also worked at Eatons, the Winnipeg Clinic, sold Avon and worked as a Dept manager for Sears, retiring in the late 70s after 12 years. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1985 to be with the 2nd love of her life, Wally, returning to Winnipeg after his death in 1994. Joyce spent many years knitting and crocheting wonderful gifts for her family and she loved to bake. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1975 and is survived by daughters, Beverly Elliott (Gord), Gail Oneski (Mike) and son George (Mavis), grandchildren, Les, Kim, Jeff, Sean and Cassandra and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for the compassionate care they provided during her stay there. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway at Sherbrook. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimers Society.
