SHIRLEY ALLEN Quietly and peacefully, our cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley Allen, passed away on January 11, 2008 at the Concordia Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Honouring her memory, Shirley leaves the love of her life for 35 years, her husband Keith; daughter Jennifer (Tony), son Jason (Julie) and granddaughter Jaylie; her dad Peter; brothers, Peter (Janet), Dennis (Sharon), Jeff (Laurel); sisters, Marion and Darlene (Ken); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her grandparents, Veronika and Frank Riha, mother Andela Illchuk and in-laws, Llewelyn and Emily Allen. Shirley was born in Winnipeg in 1952. She was raised in Carrick, MB and has resided in Transcona for 30 years. She had attended Spurgrave School in Carrick, Vita High School and Red River College in Winnipeg. After graduating from college, she was employed at the Bank of Montreal, where she worked for three years. After raising her family, she returned to work at Hallmark Cards, where she stayed until her illness. Shirley and Keith enjoyed travelling and had many hobbies that they did together, especially bingo and playing cards with family and friends. Shirley was dedicated to her family and a dedicated Christian. She had a gentle, caring, kind way about her. She was always there for her family to support and encourage them. Shirley had a calming strength and spirit as she battled lung cancer for one and one-half years. She has left many wonderful memories with all of us.
