IRENE WINNIFRED PHILLIPS (nee SHALE) October 12, 1932 - January 11, 2008 Irene passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers at the age of 75. Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon Phillips on July 4, 1985. Mom was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, son John (Lori) Jason and Dale; son Gordon (Cheryl) Ryan and Krysta; daughter Janice (Kirk); son Jim (Debbie) Kyle and Breanna and son Jeff (Charmaine) and will be sadly missed by all. Irene is survived by her two sisters, Bernice Anderson and Betty (Len Young) and their families. Irene, eldest daughter of the late John and Clara Shale, married her husband Gordon on August 14, 1953. Although she lost her husband at an early age, Mom was able to fulfill her desire to travel throughout the world with her sister Bernice, Family and Friends. Mom had many fond memories of all of her trips that she always liked to share with her family. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for all of their wonderful and compassionate care and support they provided to Irene and her family for the last four and a half years and especially in the last week of Mom's life. Mom, we just want you to know that although you struggled so much with this disease especially in the last stages, we loved you just the same and we will all miss you! We all know that you are in a better place and are with the love of your life Dad who you always missed so much. Love Your Kids and Grandkids . A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
