She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Doc Swanson; by her three brothers, Wallace, Lawrence and Neil; sisters-in-law, Josephine and Mary; nephew Brian and by husbands, Louis Wettlaufer and Howard Dunfield. Isabel is survived by son Robert and Janice of Vernon, BC; granddaughters, Christine (Ke and great-granddaughter Isabel) of Ottawa, ON and Robin (Ulric) of Jerusalem; sister-in-law Shirley; niece Blaire and nephews, Donald, Kenneth and Larry. Isabel was born in Manitou, Manitoba on March 17, 1919, the third child of Doc and Annie Swanson. Growing up with three brothers in a small town in Manitoba, she played baseball and hockey and spent many hours outside. She attended the University of Manitoba and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1940. She married Dr. Louis Wettlaufer in 1943 and moved to the Tuberculosis Sanatorium at Fort San, Saskatchewan. When Louis passed away in 1952, she returned with Robert to Winnipeg. She taught Home Economics for the Winnipeg School Division at St. Johns, Sisler and RB Russell High Schools before assuming the position of Supervisor of Home Economics for the Province of Manitoba. She retired in 1982 and later married Howard Dunfield and moved to Victoria, BC. When it became evident that she and Howard could no longer care for each other, Howard moved to the Fanning Center in Calgary and Isabel moved to Regina to be close to Robert. For the past five years she has lived at Dove House. Isabel was a strong, faithful and caring daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and teacher. She loved her grandchildren and took huge delight in participating in their growing up. She was a great cook and loved social events. Special thanks to her loving and caring extended family at Dove House, Dr. Llewllyn-Williams and the staff at the General and Pasqua Hospitals and Pastor Jeff Tank.
