Born: Jan 06, 1924
Date of Passing: Jan 14, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA SZKLARUK (nee RAWLUK) January 6, 1924 - January 14, 2008 Peacefully on January 14, 2008, at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Olga Szklaruk, aged 84, of St. Martin, MB. Olga was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Catherine, her husband Michael in 1979, daughters Eileen Betty in infancy, Sandra Maschke, brothers Thomas in infancy, Bill (Carrie), John (Violet), Peter (Marion), Paul, Alex, Tony, and sister Annie (Bill). She leaves to mourn her sons Michael and Allan, daughter Colleen, sons-in-law Vern Maschke, Preston Warren, grandchildren Lisa (Dean) Bursey, Lana (Claude) Hamilton, Patrick Warren and Travis Warren, brother Sam, sister Mary, sisters-in-law Joanne, Joyce, Dorothy and Edna, brother-in-law Alex (Mary Helen) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mother was born and raised on a farm in the VanDusen area. She met and married Michael Szklaruk at a very young age (17) in 1941, and together they bought a farm in the St. Martin area. They raised cattle, grain, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and hogs. She loved farming and grew a huge vegetable garden, along with many beautiful flowers and crab apple trees. She was a very loving person towards all, with a great sense of humour and loved to talk and laugh whenever her relatives or any folks came over. She just loved it when company would come over and greeted everyone with a warm welcome and a loving smile. We remember that the guests barely had time to sit down before the teapot was on, and Mom was already putting out dainties and lunch for all to enjoy. She loved to cook and made many different tasty dishes that we, and everyone that came over enjoyed very much. It pleased her to see that she had made her guests happy. The love simply came from within her dear heart. Back in the early years, life was filled with many hardships, but Mom and Dad together struggled on to keep the farm going and food on the table for their family. Dear Mom, you will be sadly missed by your sons and daughter and all the people who knew and loved you. Rest peacefully now until we meet again. Cremation has taken place and a family interment will be held at a later date at the St. Martin Cemetery, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. We wish to thank all the homecare ladies for their wonderful care given in these past five years. Also we wish to thank the nurses at the Lakeshore General Hospital for all the tender loving care they gave to our dear Mother until her last breath and last day here on earth. May God bless you all. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD.
