MARY IVA MCGOWAN It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mary Iva McGowan on January 15, 2008 at Davidson Memorial Health Centre, Cartwright, Manitoba with family at her side. Iva leaves to cherish her memory her son Bernard (Lily), daughter Shirley, son Bruce, daughter Jessie, son Brian, daughter Vivian (Jim), and daughter Mildred (Larry) as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many family members and friends. Iva was predeceased by parents Bruce and Catherine Livingstone as well as son-in-law Dennis McMillan and daughter-in-law Dawna McGowan. Iva was born in Cartwright, Manitoba on April 23, 1909. She attended Mylor, Chesterville and Cartwright High School. Iva married Edward McGowan in 1931 and together they raised seven children. Iva enjoyed many years of playing cards with her friends, doing ceramics, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, sketching, making flower arrangements, camping and music. Iva was a long time member of the United Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Davidson Memorial Health Centre for their kindness and support. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Iva McGowan will be held Friday, January 18, 2008 at Cartwright United Church at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Iva's name may be made to the Cartwright United Church. Grahams Funeral Service of Pilot Mound in care of arrangements.
