She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Iwan, daughter Daria, son-in-law Reese Smilski and grandchildren, Gregory and Melanie, her brother Jim Lesawich (Nell) and sisters Eve Hooper (Den) and Olga Reid, as well as her nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Kay Lesawich, her siblings Nick Lesawich, Mary Lesawich and Ann Zelizsanik, her brothers-in-law Pete Zelizsanik and Jim Reid. Pearl was born at Alonsa, Manitoba on May 16, 1923, and grew up on her parents' farm near McCreary, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg as a young woman, and married Iwan in 1963. While raising her family she was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League at Sts. Vladimir Olga Cathedral, as well as the Women's Association of the Canadian League for the Liberation of Ukraine. She was employed as a sales clerk at Eaton's for many years until her retirement. Pearl took great joy in her grandchildren, and while at Holy Family she enjoyed spending time with them visiting the pet birds and touring the garden in summertime. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of St. Mary's unit at Holy Family Nursing Home, for their exceptional care and kindness during mom's time there. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Vladimir Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pearl's memory to Holy Family Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
