RUBY RIGBY Ruby M.D. Rigby (Smith) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2008. She is now reunited with her beloved husband John (Angus Earl), who passed away in 1979 and her sisters Iris Cannon and Margaret Mackay. Remaining to cherish her memory are her loving children, daughter Amelia (Rick Kuczek), son Brent and treasured grandson, Ryland Kuczek. She is survived by her brother, Tom Smith, brother-in-law Harry Cannon and sister-in-law Marion Thompson as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her special nieces Brenda Cannon and Gail Burfoot and her longtime friend Margaret Henderson. Mom was a kind hearted, soft spoken, caring woman who loved her family. Although reserved and shy, Mom had a mischievous look and a sparkle in her eyes. She loved silliness and laughter. She enjoyed card games, listening to music and playing the piano, but best of all she prized being a Mom . She was a great cook but an even better baker; there were always sweets to enjoy. We have great memories of our camping trips in the tiny cramped trailer where organization was the key and Mom had everything in its place. In later years, as a single mother, Mom always stayed positive and did her best even during the difficult times. Towards the end of her life, the sparkle still showed in her eyes, especially when Ryland visited; he always made her smile. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the River East Personal Care Home for their care, compassion and support. In accordance with Ruby's wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Farewell RR, we know heaven has welcomed you with open arms, especially with your valued M.D. . We love you.
