Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRANT CANCILLA It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Grant Cancilla at age 61, on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Grant will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pat, sons Kent (Robin) and Ryan (Rosalia), grandchildren ( paw-paw to) Kaiden and Seth, brothers Ron (Tina) and George and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Vance and Mary Cancilla, stepfather Richard Josephson, nephew Rick Cancilla, and sister-in-law Georgina Firth. Grant was born on February 27, 1946, son of Vance and Mary Cancilla, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had more jobs than Kent had cars before he found a home for his compassion and leadership as a medical technician with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Health Home Care Equipment Pool, where he worked for 26 years. Following his retirement he worked at Auto Haus, Castle on the Seine, and Canadian Tire. Grant will be remembered as a kind and warm-hearted man. He was a dedicated father, husband, and friend who always put others ahead of himself. He was seen as a father to more than his sons as he worked in quiet service to the community as a coach and leader. His passion for classic and peculiar cars brought him close to many people he held dear. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
