MARY JO MCLEOD Mary Jo was born in Winnipeg March 19, 1927. She died peacefully Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Queen's Park Care Centre. Mary Jo was predeceased by her husband Alan, parents, Alf and Gertrude Cortens, sisters Laura Smith and Audrey Thorwaldson, and brother Raymond Cortens. She will be sadly missed by daughters Jill and Catherine and son Stephen (Pauline), sisters Lettie Morse (Allan) Trudi Cortens and brothers Jack (Byrnece), David (Margaret) and Brian (Dodi) Cortens, grandchildren Jennafer, Melissa, Matthew, Brendan and Erin along with many nieces and nephews. Mary Jo, Alan and family moved to Burnaby from Winnipeg in 1961 where she became an active member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, serving as a school secretary for many years. Jo, as she was fondly known, was a kind person with a great heart and love for her family along with a wonderful sense of humour and love of life and friends. Prayer services will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church, 6610 Balmoral St. Burnaby, BC. on Sunday, January 20 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Francis de Sales on Monday, January 21 at 12:00 noon. Cremation will take place and interment will be at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Queen's Park Care Centre in New Westminister and Nurses Next Door for the kind care she received.
