Dad will be sadly missed by his daughter Diana (Dan) and their children, Dean and Darren; daughter Roberta and her daughter Angela (Matt) and her children Lyndsay and Haley; and daughter Marlene. He is also survived by his brother Norman (Bette), his sisters, Corinne Copping and Victoria (Les) Clark, brother-in-law Leonard (Millie) Fisher, sister-in-law Margaret, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey, his daughter Bonnie, his grandson Adam, brothers, Arnold, Harold and Frank and sister Evelyn Copping. Dad was born and raised in Selkirk, MB growing up on the family owned dairy farm. As a young man he joined the war effort in the Merchant Navy and was stationed in Vancouver. He then moved to Winnipeg where he met Mom and they married during the 1950 flood. He began his career in the automotive industry as a mechanic with Carter Motors and retired as an automotive parts Sales Representative with Stadium Ford. Dad enjoyed watching TV, especially Second World War documentaries and films, playing card games and challenging family and friends to a game of cribbage. Dad was a member of the St. Vital Legion enjoying the 65 Club events and sharing a beer with friends. He proudly received his 50 year Legion pin in 2007. Dad endured health problems over the pass decade, from battling cancer and beating it to his final battle with COPD over the last two months, which he fought with great courage, determination and dignity. We would like to thank the Home Care nurses and attendants, the Meals on Wheels volunteers and the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface MSICU and Victoria General Hospital ICU.
