Born April 4, 1922 and raised in Winnipeg, Jim served with the Winnipeg Rifles in the Second World War, marrying Vera shortly before enlisting. Together they enjoyed many years in Manitoba before spending 25 years in New Zealand. They returned to Winnipeg in 1988 to be near their only daughter, Shirley (husband Jerry), grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Jim was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, who in his retirement years, took an active interest in golf, time spent at the St. James Legion, and visiting with family. Jim was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by daughter Shirley (Jerry) Willis, grandchildren Ken, Wayne (Trish) and Cheryl (Rob), great-grandchildren Kyle, Brendan, Payton, Raisa, Ryne and Ocean as well as extended family and friends. The family extends their gratitude to Gayle and staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for the care and compassion Jim received during his stay. As the story goes Jimmy came over to the UK during WWII and stayed with my mother's family on leave. My mother's father (Charles James Ambler) showed Jimmy sights of London as story goes. - Posted by: Ian Heudebourck (My Mother and Uncle were Jimmy's - 1st cousins -their father was Jimmy's fathers brother.) on: Jan 11, 2013
