ANNE FILUK (nee PETRYK) An Angel In Our Midst Anne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was suddenly and without warning taken from us on January 13, 2008. Honoring her memory, she leaves the love of her life of 35 years, Ron Filuk. Daughters, Alison Filuk (Jason Swaile) and Sheri-ann Filuk (Jason Hartle). Grandchildren Chelsea and Reiss Swaile and baby Hartle on the way. Brother, Mike Petryk, sisters Mary Matcyk (Merv) and Nancy Wowk (Dave) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her father Michael Petryk in 1970 and mother Fanny Petryk in 2001. Born on September 22, 1953 in The Pas, Manitoba, Anne was the youngest of four children. She was raised in Cranberry Portage and continued to live there throughout her adult life. Never one to stand still she involved herself extensively in the community. While attending Frontier Collegiate she also worked in the family businesses of the Economy Store and Centennial Motel. She graduated in 1971 and went on to do a term in Business Admin. in Winnipeg after which she returned home to continue working with her family. It was there she met her husband and soul mate Ron, and was married on January 27, 1973. She settled down to start her family. While raising two daughters and a husband, she selflessly shared her time and enthusiasm in a number of volunteer roles some of which include: Cranberry Portage Figure Skating Club, Brownie Leader, teaching Sunday School, Frontier School Committee and later Trustee on the Frontier School board which had her traveling extensively. A woman of faith, she was also an active member of the Grace Church Women's Auxiliary and attended her church regularly. Whilst being busy in the community she also found time for her career starting on a part-time basis at The Post Office 1976. She was promoted to Postmistress in 2000 and was the favorite of many local children who loved to visit Anne and get stickers. In addition to her work with Canada Post, she also managed her husband's business Blue Ox. Inc. doing all the administrative work, payroll, bookkeeping and all that a family business entails. She loved baking, making jams and jellies teaching her daughters the finer points of homemaking and gardening. She was known for her showstopper Lilies and took endless photos of them, which graced her office. She also doted on her Granddaughter Chelsea and looked forward to spoiling her new grandson while anticipating the arrival of Sheri's baby expected this May. Anne was an exceptionally giving and generous spirit right up until her last moments where she gave the gift of a second chance at life to four people. Her radiant smile and unassuming beauty touched all who knew her. We love you so much and will forever miss you Anne (Mom). You have earned your Wings. Funeral Services will be held on January 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Frontier Collegiate Gym in Cranberry Portage. Arrangements Entrusted to Dadson Funeral home. Interested Parties May Donate to the Heart Stroke Foundation or the Gideon Society in care of Northern Rainbow's End, 55 Main Street, Flin Flon, Manitoba R8A 1J7.
