Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD HALES TROTT Beloved husband and best friend of Frances passed away peacefully on January 14, 2008, at the Minnedosa Regional Health Centre. Howard leaves to mourn Frances, his wife of 58 years, daughter Arlene (Bernie) Wilgosh, son Murray (Eileen) Trott, grandchildren, Kelsey (Kristin), Kaylan (Bryan), Lauren, great-granddaughter, Makiya; brother Don (Gwen) Trott and sister-in-law Phyllis (Harry) Barlette; Aunt Clara Trott and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Howard was born on the family farm in the Moline District on May 18, 1920. He grew up on the farm, attending the local District school. From an early age, Howard displayed musical talent and learned to play the violin, piano, trumpet, and saxophone, playing his first recital when he was 8 years old. He started playing for dances when he was 16 years old and from 1946 to 1978, he played in a five-piece band, noted for the music of the Big Band era. Just three weeks before his death, Howard gave his good friend, Gary, a two-hour recital on the organ in his home. At Easter in 2006, Howard wrote his reflections of his life. He talks of his early childhood memories, his meeting and subsequent marriage to Frances, his family of whom he was extremely proud and of his many different careers. Howard farmed with his father until 1968. He and Frances owned and operated a convenience store in Rapid City for seven years and then a General Motors car dealership in Minnedosa. He had many stories to tell about the famous people he had as passengers when he drove for a limousine service in Winnipeg - people such as musical groups AC/DC, David Bowie and Crystal Gale. Besides his family and his music, Howard's other two passions were traveling with Frances and owning a new car. He purchased his latest new car in April 2007 and was able to drive it up to the time of his illness. He also enjoyed his regular visits and chats with his cousin Irene (Ronnie) Birch and cousin Bill (Doreen) Trott. Howard's closing words in his writing of his reflections were: In closing I think I have lived a very full life and must give thanks to my creator who has always provided for me...to the almighty God I give my untold thanks. In accordance with Howard's wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family service. Special thanks to Dr. Anderson and the staff of the Minnedosa Regional Health Centre and the Minnedosa Palliative Care Program for their excellent care and support. A very special thank-you to Reverend Gary MacDowell. Donations may be made to Minnedosa Palliative Care, PO Box 960, Minnedosa, MB R0J1E0, or a charity of your choice.
