JUDITH MARIE DAWSON Judy Dawson, beloved wife, best friend and business partner of Dr. Bill Dawson. My darling Judy breathed her last breath with me at her side and our families close by. She was born Judith Page, October 18, 1953 in St. Vital, MB. She grew up there and attended the University of Manitoba faculty of dentistry to become a dental hygienist. We met there and graduated together in 1973. I served my obligation to the Canadian Armed Forces and Judy worked for a few dentists in Winnipeg until we were transferred to Goose Bay, Labrador. We lived two great years there, meeting some lifelong friends and seeing the east coast. We then moved to Winnipeg to live close to family and established a dental practice in St James. Judy was a huge support for the practice but was able to be a stay at home mom for our son Peter. When he left us we sold the practice to my brother Randy and started a new practice out of our home near Erinview and for the past 12 years she has been my assistant, receptionist and the soul of our dental office in the middle of the bush . Judy was predeceased by our beloved son Peter in 1994, her mother Edna, father Syd, father-in-law Earl Dawson and older brother Herb, brothers-in-law Glenn Bollenback and Bill Evans only a year ago. She is survived by husband Bill, her brother Syd (Sheila), her sisters, Lorna(David) and Linda, sister-in-law Diane; Bill's family, mother-in-law Madeline Dawson, Pat and Cora Dawson, Nancy Bollenback, Don and Katrina Dawson, Randy Dawson, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Judy loved everybody and all will remember the beautiful smile that she welcomed them with. She particularly liked to get in deep conversation over coffee with her sisters and coffee buddies, and loved to Do lunch . She could spend over an hour on the telephone in deep conversation about the important things in life, whether it be child rearing, organic gardening or spirituality. Judy spent a large amount of time reading about spirituality, particularly after our son left us. This helped to bring peace to both of us and helped us to settle into a wonderful life in the country, with our workplace in our home. She loved her gardens and particularly loved producing a meal from produce which had been growing only minutes or hours beforehand. Judy and I and our families wish to thank Dr. Chris Turner of the Winnipeg Naturopathic Clinic for his wonderful care and friendship and Dr. Kerr Graham and the staff at Teulon Hospital for their compassion and care as Judy grew weak at a rapidly increasing rate. Their care and concern to control her comfort and pain at the end were perfect. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Southwest District Palliative Care, Box 1282 Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0 or the Winnipeg Naturopathic Clinic 459 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A0J5. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m., at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre. She left a soft footprint on this earth! MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Bill, Yvonne let me know we have lost Judy. I read this beautiful tribute to Judy and wept for your sorrow and for the untimely loss of a wonderful woman. I know you will experience a dreadful emptiness without her. Now you will need your friends to stand beside you while you grieve. We are here, always. I experienced her wonderful warmth and the quick intellegence she sometimes hid behind her sense of humour. I will always remember our class reunion at your home, so graciously hosted and filled with fun. My heart goes out to you. • Although Judy and I didn't really hang out, we shared a lot in common. She always took time to make me feel comfortable whenever I was in their home and she would save me magazines that she knew I or my husband would like or could use, shared her famous pumpkin pie recipe and we exchanged many natural home remedies. I always felt that she was a friend indeed. Judy we the Youngs will miss you greatly. - Posted by: Linda Young (Friend) on: Jan 20, 2008
