Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER IRENE FOREST (Soeur Arthur Marie) Fille de la Croix (Sister of the Cross) August 1930 - January 2008 It is with great sorrow that Les Filles de la Croix announce the passing of Sister Irene Forest on Friday, January 18, 2008 at Foyer Valade. She was born on August 9, 1930 and lived with her family at St. Malo, Manitoba where she attended school. In 1951 she entered the novitiate and took her final vows in 1958. Sister Irene Forest leaves to mourn her brothers, Louis (Lorraine) and Jean (Ardith) and her sisters, Hortense (Henri Trudel), Alice (Jack Henderson), Aurise, Aline (Ernest Neveux), Anita (Gabriel Catellier) and Marcelle (Joseph Robidoux), a sister-in-law, Annette; a brother-in-law Jean Chagnon as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed by all, as well as by Les Filles de la Croix with whom she spent many good times. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Emma (Fortier), her brother, Norbert; her sisters, Annette, Cécile, Germaine and Denise; her brothers-in-law, Jean Morin, Stanley Lipischack, Roger Sicotte, Tom Pilkington, Jean Comeau. Sister Irene had great determination in all she undertook. She met life's challenges with courage and enthusiasm especially during her last years of illness. The highlights of her dedication were her long stay in Quebec as a teacher, and her five years with the mentally challenged in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. She also pursued a nursing career as LPN enabling her to serve at St. Boniface Hospital, at the Provincial House as well as at the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo until her retirement. Sister Irene had a devoted love for her family. This was marked by the care she offered towards her elderly mother for many years as she continued to exercise her teaching profession in St. Malo. Sister Irene cherished her prayer times at the chapel and her devotion to many saints she loved and venerated. She was a person of duty and service with a wonderful capacity to create and even offer at times the odd maintenance service. The family and the Sisters wish to thank the staff of the Provincial House and of Foyer Valade for their loving care given to Sister Irene in the last years of her life. Prayers for Sister Irene Forest will be held on Monday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Provincial House of Les Filles de la Croix, 66 Moore Avenue, Winnipeg. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 22 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Fernand Desjardins will be presiding. Interment in St. Adolphe, Manitoba will follow.
