Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySESSELJA GRACE GUDMUNDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Amma, Grace Gudmundson of Arborg, Manitoba on January 14, 2008 at the age of 86. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Magnusina Jonasson; her husband Franklin (1984); her sisters, Thelma, Florence, Adalheidur, Helga and only brother Thomas. She is survived by her two daughters, Bernice (Ken) Sigurdson of Swan River and Sharon of Arborg; grandsons, Brendan, Shawn, Brodie Sigurdson; a sister Jonina Britton of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Helga Johnson of Arborg. Grace was born at Engimyri (farm) in Riverton, Manitoba on February 1, 1921. She was second youngest of seven siblings born to Thomas and Magnusina Jonasson. While visiting grandparents in Arborg in the late 1930's she met her future husband. She married Franklin Gudmundson on June 6, 1941. They took over the family farm and farmed until Franklin retired in 1980. Grace lived at home until moving to the personal care home in 2006. Grace was a generous person with a big heart. She could be counted on to lend a helping hand or advice. She thought it very important that people treat each other with fairness and kindness. Grace worked hard raising a family and helping with the farm. Grace enjoyed traveling, listening to music, baking, picnics, gardening, crocheting, bingo, playing piano and visiting grandsons. She had a natural talent of playing piano by ear she could liven up any gathering by taking requests on the piano. Many have enjoyed her music. Grace was very grateful for the care she received from Red River Place personal care home staff in Selkirk, Arborg hospital and personal care home staff, and Dr. Beukes. While still at home she was grateful for the care of her homecare workers and help from her daughter Sharon. She was also grateful for the help of Ben Borgford for driving her to Winnipeg for medical trips. Thank you mom, for all you have done for us. If one so desires, donations may be made to charity of the ones choice. Funeral service was held on Saturday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church Arborg. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
