EDITH (PAT) TAYLOR With her family at her side, Pat Taylor, aged 94, passed away on December 12, 2007, at the Grace Hospital. Pat was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1994, as well as her brothers Art and Wilf. Pat is survived and will be forever remembered by her children Neil (Bev) of Winnipeg and Elaine of Osoyoos, BC; grandchildren Michelle (Ted), Jeffrey (Michelle), Michael, Scott, David and Dana; great-granddaughters Brooklyn, Jenna, Addi and Tessa. Grandmom was introduced to new arrival Addi in July of last year and the frequent visits by Addi and her mom, Deanne Cram, brought her great joy in her last months. She was born Edith Squire on July 2, 1913, in Brandon, MB. After completing high school she went to work for Great West Life, where one of her co-workers renamed her Pat and it stuck for the rest of her life. After a long courtship Pat married Frank on November 5, 1938, in Brandon. As a married woman she quit working, which was the custom of the day, and set about being a housewife and raising her children. Throughout their life together Pat and Frank pursued many common interests - always together - golf, bowling, bridge and travelling, mostly to Hawaii in their retirement years. Pat was blessed with many lifelong friendships - Royal Bank employees and their wives, Elmhurst golfers, bowling league teammates, Norwood neighbours and for the past seven years the residents of Kiwanis Courts, a place she loved. Mom was a fiercely independent lady who enjoyed a great life. That independence showed in the last six weeks as the years took their toll on her body, but not her mind and spirit. She will be missed beyond words. Our thanks go out to the staff of Grace Hospital who looked after Mom in her last days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation Manitoba or Grace Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME 885-9715
