MURIEL FLORENCE CORRIGALL (GEORGE)
Date of Passing: Jan 22, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL FLORENCE CORRIGALL (nee GEORGE) We are sad to say that Mom/Grandma/Great-Grandma died on January 22, 2008 after a short stay in Grace Hospital. But she died just a few days before her 94th birthday, so we are also grateful for the long time that she lived, and for the time we had with her. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Lillian and William George, and her brothers Bill and Philip. Muriel is missed by her son Bill and his wife Janis of the Toronto area, her grandchildren Todd Corrigall and Kristin Balter, both of Vancouver, and her great-granddaughter Lola Balter. Muriel was born in Verigin, Saskatchewan, and later graduated from the University of Manitoba. She married Fred Knox Corrigall in Winnipeg, and life took them to India in the post-war 1940s. Later back in Winnipeg, she enjoyed her work as a laboratory technologist at the Grace Hospital from its early days on Arlington Street, and then at its present location. Her enthusiasm for it was Bill's first exposure to science. Her other joys were her family, travel in her younger years, her home in Silver Heights which she helped design, and her garden. Muriel lived the last few years in The Wellington, where she enjoyed the companionship of new friends and acquaintances. All of us are grateful to the staff at the Wellington and of Home Care who did so much to make Muriel's life fuller. We also appreciate so much the comfort provided to her and us by the staff of 5 North at the Grace Hospital. If friends so desire, rather than flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A service to remember Muriel will be held on Friday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow (telephone 885-9715).
