Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOSCAR EDWARD JAMES GUDMUNDSON Peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2008, Oscar passed away at the Gimli Hospital at the age of 76 years. Oscar was predeceased by his wife Alice in 1996, his daughter Eileen in 1997, his parents Oskar and Kate Gudmundson, sister Joyce Gislason, his in-laws Karl and Edith Einarson, brothers-in-law, Walter King, Leonard Thorsteinson, Paul Gislason and Kjartan Fridfinnson. Left to cherish his memory are his family Emily King, Inga Thorsteinson, Lillian Fridfinnson, Robert and Gladys Gudmundson, Florence Gudbjartson, Doris and Oli Einarson, Joan and Allan Brigg and Douglas and Angela Einarson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Oscar was born October 15, 1931, the fourth child to Oskar and Kate Gudmundson at the family homestead. He attended Framnes School and helped on the family farm. During the winter he would work in the bush camps. He worked for many years for the village of Arborg. On November 3, 1956, he married Alice Einarson and they celebrated 39 years of marriage. They were blessed with one daughter Eileen. Oscar loved the simple things in life. He loved his family, gardening, hunting, dancing, looking after his animals on the farm especially his horses, and his friends popping in for a visit. Oscar lived on his own until August 2005 when he moved to Betel in Gimli. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Betel for all their care. Although Oscar will be missed deeply we find comfort in knowing that his is with Alice and Eileen. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg, Manitoba. MacKenzie Funeral Home Arborg in care of arrangements.
