Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH FRANK TORCHIA On January 20, 2008, with his beloved family at his side, Joe was called into the loving arms of God. Joe's memory will be cherished forever by Olive, his wife of 62 years, daughters, Carol, Joanne (Andre), grandchildren, Brett (Rhea), Carla (CJ), Ryan (Jennifer), Mathieu (Cheryl) and great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Ayden, Ethan, Daniel and Cade. He is survived by sisters, Angie, Margie and many relatives and friends. Joe was predeceased by his sister Kay and brothers, George, Frank and Tony. Joe was born in Amato, Italy on January 11, 1916. to Antonio and Rachela. He immigrated to Canada in 1926. For 54 years he proudly operated Torchia Modern Shoe Repair on Osborne Street in Winnipeg, where many long-lasting friendships were formed. He eagerly shared his passion for opera, violins, his Italian heritage and food with everyone he met. Joe treasured the years he spent with Olive at the family cottage where he enjoyed being close to nature. The family extends their sincere appreciation to Dr. Yaffe, Dr Tam and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care they provided. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke St. with Father Ken Barclay and Father Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, Box 12013 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3 Thank you for loving us all so much, for your sense of humour, for teaching us to look at our cup as half full instead of half empty in times of trouble and for the passionate way you lived your life.
