Ann will be sadly missed by her cherished family; daughters, Helen (Norman) Sundstrom, and Fran Booth; grandchildren, Karin (Andrew) Paryzek and Kathryn Sundstrom; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mila Paryzek, as well as her dear friend Jill Patrick. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Long; brother-in-law, Tom Miller; sister-in-law, June Cullen; niece, Dorothy Booth and many loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews in Canada, USA, Britain and Australia. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Harry; brothers, Will and John Cullen and sister, Marty Miller. Ann was born in Crew, England, and came to Canada at three years of age with her parents and the family settled in Brandon, Manitoba. There she completed high school and was awarded the Governor General's Medal. She then attended Normal School in Brandon and began her lifelong love of teaching in rural Manitoba and Brandon. In 1935, she married Harry Clinton Booth in Flin Flon, Manitoba, where they remained until Harry's retirement in 1969. In the late 1950s, Ann returned to teaching elementary school in Flin Flon where she formed a special bond with her young students and in turn, was much loved by them. She continued her teaching in Flin Flon and subsequently in Winnipeg until her retirement in 1972. Upon retirement, she served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg where she began the practice of making and presenting a corsage or boutonnière to each resident on the occasion of their birthday. With her husband, she enjoyed many hours of gardening at their home in Charleswood. Throughout her life, she was steadfast in her love of children, her pride in and enjoyment of her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her deep appreciation of her family and friends. On Thursday, January 24, Ann's memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road, with Rev. Susan Tough officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to express sincere appreciation and deep gratitude to Dr. G. Kalansky, Dr. C. Bradshaw, Dr. J. Kinsner and to the staff in the emergency department and Ward 5 East of St. Boniface Hospital for their warm and compassionate care. Flowers are gratefully declined.
