Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN KRAITBERG Evelyn Joyce Kraitberg passed away peacefully at the Deer Lodge Centre on January 24, 2008, surrounded by her two daughters and those who loved her. Evelyn was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, where she lived for 80 years, the last two years as a resident of Deer Lodge. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sondra of Toronto, ON, and Ruth of Edmonton, AB; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eleanor Rosenblat; her husband of 47 years, Charlie Kraitberg; and her siblings, Phyllis Solway and Albert Rosenblat. Evelyn graduated from Kelvin High School and Angus Business College. She worked as a secretary for many years. She happily devoted 40 years to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brandeis Lodge, a Zionist club, in many executive capacities, and as Archivist. She was proud to present the Archives, on which she worked, to the Jewish Historical Society of Western Canada. Evelyn received the Lady of the Year Award for exemplary service to the Auxiliary and Israel. For many years Evelyn served on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Contract Bridge League and on the Executive of the Seven Oaks Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a skillful bridge player and enjoyed being competitive. Both bridge and bowling were highly anticipated weekly social activities for Evelyn. During her residency at Deer Lodge, Evelyn was a keen participant in the many activities offered. She was able to apply her bowling skills, and also was one of the cheerleaders of the other players. Her sense of humour and loving ways were appreciated by those who knew her. Evelyn's daughters would like to thank the staff of the Special Care Unit (3W) at the Deer Lodge Centre for caring so lovingly and respectfully for their mom for the last two years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main Street. Donations in Evelyn's memory can be made to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation (specify: Special Care Unit), 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
