HELEN DYCK (nee GIESBRECHT) July 21, 1918 - January 23, 2008 Peacefully, after a brief illness Helen Dyck passed away at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, Manitoba. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children: Carol (Kelvin) Montoute of Brampton, Ontario; Jack (Gail) Van Dyck of Vancouver, British Columbia; Ina (Malcolm) Hollett of Heart's Delight-Islington, Newfoundland. Also to mourn her loss are her grandchildren, Lisa Dyck (Bryan Drakes), Adam and Jill Van Dyck, Geoffrey Hollett and great-grandchildren, Joshua Drakes and Tyler Dyck-Drakes and many nieces and nephews. Helen leaves behind her sisters Katharine McFadden of Minnedosa; Mary Duncan of Trenton, Ontario and Elma Klaassen of Chanute, Kansas, USA. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Dyck in 2002 and her sister Susan Cyr in 1980. Helen and Andy lived in St. Francois Xavier, Winnipeg Beach and Minnedosa, Manitoba. Helen became involved in every community. Over the years she gardened, curled, sewed, was a member of the St. Francois Xavier women's baseball league, a 4-H Garden Club leader, and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary. In Minnedosa, she contributed by her works in the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies and the Royal Purple. At the age of 84 she reluctantly hung up her bowling shoes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street in Stonewall, Manitoba. Memorial donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge, The Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. No flowers, please. We wish to express our appreciation to the staff at Rosewood Lodge and Dr. Graham for the loving care given to our Mother over the past three years.
