JOSEPH GEORGE SHASKI (SZAJEWSKI) Peacefully, at 10:24 a.m. on January 23, 2008, our Dad Joe, returned home to be with his Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life and he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was not afraid of dying knowing he would be reunited with Nadia. Joe was born in Narol, Manitoba, on April 13, 1929. He leaves to mourn his sister Shirley Shaski; his five children, Janice (Don) Mulder, Cindy (Jeff) Osmond, Darlene (Roman) Shaski, Joanne (Bernie) Steinhilber, Joe (Debby) Shaski; 13 grandchildren, Derek, David, Christopher, Amanda, Tammy, Theresa, Victoria, Brent, Jennifer, Kevin, Carly, Austin, Ryan and one great-granddaughter Julia. His niece Laura (Ken) Allard, nephew Allan Malazdrewich, second wife Jackie (Sokoloski) and many relatives and friends will each remember Joe in their own way. We all have our special memories. Joe was predeceased by his sister Bernadette, brother Peter, infant son Joseph, first wife Nadia (Yakimovich), and his parents Charles and Victoria. Dad was a dreamer. He loved his fishing, the lake and his golf. He could always be found smoking in his favourite chair, watching sports on his TV. His favourite place was Mexico. He hid his soft heart beneath a gruff exterior. To Dr. Vanresburg and all the staff at Beausejour Health Centre, thank you for your care and compassion to Dad. You became his surrogate family. Thank you to everyone who loved and supported each of us during this time. We invite you to join us to celebrate Dad's life at a Mass of Christian Burial on January 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christ Church, 5819 Henderson Highway. Please feel free come 30 minutes before the service to say your farewell. The family wants to ensure that everyone is comfortable and supported during this very special time of life. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Joe's memory to Hospice Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0L3, (204) 889-8525, www.manitobahospice.ca. We know first hand that there is always hope for healing. Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me and I will give you rest Rest peacefully Dad, we love you.
