Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARRIE IONA LLOYD (nee LAXDAL) In the early hours of Saturday, January 19, 2008 Iona passed away at the Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by husband Bob; son Jim; parents Carrie and Sigurdur (Sam) Laxdal; sister Georgina; brothers Sig and Gordon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is lovingly remembered by son Graham; sister Lorraine (Ted) Bloomer; brother Thomas (Freda) Laxdal; sister-in-law Peggy Henry; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Iona was born in Charleswood April 19, 1921 and was proud to make it home for almost 87 years. She was active in the community through the church, schools and especially the Charleswood Curling Club where she enjoyed many years of curling and companionship. Whether it was at the club, a Pine Falls Ladies Bonspiel or Halifax Brier, she loved the game and the people who came with it. Standing out among so many cherished memories are the special times shared with family and friends at Victoria Beach. One of her greatest joys was the morning swim before breakfast with Dad and their walk along a peaceful beach. Even in the days of the wood-fire stove and coal-oil lamps, it was our second home and she loved everything about it. Mom truly was a kind, gentle and generous person who as humble as she was - will be missed more than she would have ever imagined. She was patient, occasionally stubborn, but more than anything dedicated to her family and always there for them during the sunshine and clouds. Special thanks to the remarkable staff at the Grace Hospital who treated her with such caring and compassion over the past many months especially those on the third floor who are, in her own words, kind and wonderful people . Thanks also to the Home Care coordinators and aides who did so much to make her time at home the best it could be, and to family physicians Dr. Ibbitt and Dr. Bartlett. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
