EMILIA (EMILY) ANNA ZAPLATYNSKY (STECHISHIN) Peacefully at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the age of 93. Emily will be sadly missed by her daughter Savellia (Bob), son John (Sally), and daughter Daria; her grandchildren Janice (Jason), Sandra (David), Laura and Norrie; and great-grand-children Katelyn, Matthew and Owen, as well as nieces and nephews. Mom was a seamstress while her children were growing up. When Dad became ill she returned to school, taking a secretarial course at RRCC. She became a teacher at Success/Angus Business College and worked there from 1964 to 1979. She loved her job and was Mrs. Zapp to all of her students and to many who knew her. She enjoyed attending symphony concerts, the ballet and Manitoba Theatre Centre, and was always busy knitting. When she retired, she joined the Henjum Toastmasters where she spent several terms as president. She loved traveling, sang in the Stradbrook and CNIB choirs and volunteered at the CNIB and the Manitoba Society for Seniors. In her long life, she developed many friends and touched many lives. She will be missed and always loved. Special thanks to the staff at Station 3 Tuxedo Villa for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg.
