Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTONIO OLIVEIRA da ROSA Peacefully on January 24, 2008, Antonio passed away with his family by his side at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 59. Remaining to cherish his memory is his loving wife Goretti; children, Donna, Bruce, Susanna (Paul), and Tony; grandchild Landen; siblings, Gilda (José), Lidia (Alfred), John (Conceicao), Oliver (Laura), Alice (David) and José (Juvenalia); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria Conceicao da Rosa. Antonio was born in Sao Miguel, Acores on July 16, 1948 and came to his beloved country Canada in 1972. He started his career as a butcher at F.G. Bradley and continued at various companies until he joined Smith Quality Meats. He loved hockey and was obsessed with the Winnipeg Jets. Antonio also enjoyed television especially watching Family Feud on his big screen. He was very fond of his steak, wine and beer. The family would like to thank the fantastic nurses on 5th floor unit 2 at Seven Oaks Hospital especially Evelyn, Stephanie, Kathy and Kim. Thanks also to Dr. Fatoye and Dr. Akra, for their care and compassion. The family would like to thank all Antonio's friends for their support during this difficult time. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, January 29 at 8:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 30 at 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N., with Very Rev. José Eduardo Medeiros, V.F. as Celebrant. Antonio will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonio's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association.
