ALAN JAMES MCCARTNEY It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing father, grandfather and husband on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Alan was born in Winnipeg on March 15, 1953. Alan will be sadly missed by his partner of 17 years Barb; mother Ethel; brother Larry, sister Sandra; daughters, Gayleen (Jeff), Angela (Keith), Tracey (Danny) along with nine grandchildren, Carissa, Bryanna, Jerzie, Destiny, Austyn, Alysha, Devon, Tyler and Eden; stepchildren, Jennifer (Adam), Tony and Tiffany (David) and step grandchildren, Robbie, Jenelle, Morgan, Caleb and Hannah. Throughout his 54 years, Alan made many long time friends. Among these was his best friend Larry Goring. Alan was a tremendously dedicated employee for numerous moving companies throughout his 38 year trucking career. He worked for Canada Moving, Winnipeg Moving, Hill Security and MacCosham Van Lines. Our dad loved to be with his children and grandchildren as often as he could. He enjoyed turkey dinners with everyone especially his father. Alan enjoyed football and was especially proud to watch his home team make it to the Grey Cup this year. Alan is predeceased by his best friend and father William (Bill) McCartney, his beloved dog Winston, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Prayer service will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. also at Thomson Funeral Home.
