KATHERINE PASTUCHYN Peacefully on January 26, 2008 at Concordia Hospital, Katherine passed away at the age of 98. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jen, Edward (Lila), Herb (Marge); nine grandchildren, Kathryn (Terry) Speiss, Lisa (Andy) Bonchonsky, Jason Walkow, Lori Walkow, Debbie (Chris) Scott-Kerr, Brad (Sharon) Rokosh, Anne (Andrew) Skalsky, Jennifer (Willi) Penner, and John Rokosh and great-grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler, Nyah, Miya, Connor, Chloe, and Jack. She is also survived by her sister and numerous relatives in the Ukraine. Katherine was predeceased by her first husband John Rokosh, second husband Frank Pastuchyn, and son-in-law Edward Walkow. Katherine was born in the Ukraine, immigrated to Canada in 1927 and settled in East Selkirk where she married and raised her family. In 1959, Katherine moved to Winnipeg and was employed at Holy Family Nursing Home until retirement. She was an active member of Holy Eucharist Church. Katherine enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking and cooking for her grandchildren. Some of her happiest times were spent with her family, at her Thursday morning perogy group and Wednesday afternoon seniors club. In 2000, Katherine moved to the Gable Arms apartments where she remained until her death. She very much enjoyed the company of her new friends as well as participating in various social activities. The family would like to thank those residents who visited her so often, the home care workers for their help and support, and also Dr. B. Gorski whose care she was under for many years. Prayers will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watt Street and Munroe Avenue on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. also at the church with Fr. Michael Winn officiating. Interment will take place at East Selkirk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katherine's memory to a charity of your choice.
