KATHRYN HELEN LAWRIE (nee CANN) August 5, 1924 - January 26, 2008 It is with great sadness, and with great gratitude for having known such a loving woman, that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on January 26, 2008 at Oakview Place with her family at her side. Kae was predeceased by her husband Bob and son Jim. Left to lovingly remember and celebrate her life are her son Dan, and partner Diana, daughter Jean and husband Rick, and son John; as well as her grandchildren Lynda (Gord), Bob (Nicole), Jason (Sally), Chris (Shawnee) and Lori; as well as her great-grandchildren, Brooke, Grace, Brett, Jamie, Dylan, Kate and Shae. Kae was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan the only child of Austin and Bessie Cann. In 1942 while serving their country during the Second World War, Bob and Kae met and were married. Kae spent most of her life living in Edmonton and Winnipeg where she raised her family while volunteering and working with various arts organizations. Kae retired from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 1989. She loved the nine years spent in Langley, BC following her retirement. Her love of family, friends and life is a legacy that we will cherish and embrace. Towards the end of her life Kae was still teaching us by her example how to live with laughter, love and courage. A celebration of Kae's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kae to CancerCare Manitoba or The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered Come with Me . Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME 885-9715

  • Vicki and I send our love and condolences. We both loved to be with Kae. She was such a warm accepting and open person who made us feel comfortable in her presence whatever the occasion. Her friendship with our sister Gwen (Lyn) was legendary. They really connected and will always be connected in our minds. Kae will be missed, we are truly blessed to have known her. - Posted by: Jack Wilson (Family) on: Jan 30, 2008
