Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELENORA (NORA) SPALDING (nee BRAUN) Born March 16, 1913, near Gretna, MB, Nora died peacefully at home in Campbell River, BC, on January 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard (Buster) Braun, William (Billy) Braun, Ed Braun, and Paul Braun; two husbands, Alfred J. Hiebert in 1979, and Norman C. Spalding in 2000. She is survived by one daughter Jeannette (George) Neufeld; three grandchildren, Brad Neufeld (Lori Lewis), Tracey Gilmore (John Hermans), and Mona Neufeld (Grant Maughan); three great-grandchildren, Felicia Pedersen, Kayla Zalopski and Alyssa Gilmore; one sister Olga Joyal of Lowe Farm; four stepchildren, Norma (Ron) Hoeppner, June (Eldon) Wiebe, Howard (Donna) Spalding, and Evelyn (Jim) Rempel; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Nora spent a great portion of her life in Lowe Farm before and after her first husband Alfred passed away. She married Norman in 1982 and moved to Redwater, AB, where they resided until Norm became ill in 1999. They then joined George and Jeannette in Calgary, AB, and they all lived together until Norm passed away. She remained there until 2006 when they all made their home in Campbell River, BC, where she subsequently passed. During her 94 years she touched so many lives and will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Nora's name to the Canadian Cancer Society. The funeral service will be held at the Lowe Farm Bergthaler Mennonite Church on Friday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m., with interment in the Lowe Farm Cemetery.
