ROBERT JOSEPH CYBULKA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Cybulka on January 28, 2008. Cowboy Bob was born on August 7, 1947 in Winnipeg, where he resided during his lifetime. As an only child, he surrounded himself with many friends, as well as clients from his self employment as a computer programmer. Bob fondly reminisced the times at Booster Lake where he immersed himself in his social circle and the nature he so loved. Clearing the land and building the cottage from the ground up with his Dad, Johnny, and other family/friends was an accomplishment he was very proud of. There are too many tales to tell, but those involved will remember them for life. The computer was another love that he could not turn his back on, and customers were always taken care of no matter the time or place. There was no such thing as 9-5 in Bob's life and he thrived on it. He made many friends as a result and spoke of them often. His vegetable garden was open to many! To his limited family his wealth of knowledge was called upon often. Bob was a been there, done that kind of guy who was always ready with a solution to someone's dilemma. There wasn't anyone whom he couldn't or wouldn't strive to help out. What are we going to do without you? Although Bob did not have any biological children of his own, his dedication to his niece and step-nieces did not go unnoticed. Countless hours of 5:30 in the a.m. conversations over breakfast at the lake were not a burden to him. Learning to chop wood was not uncommon for Bob and the girls. Bob leaves to mourn his passing his niece Ashley Eaton, step-nieces Casey and Brittany Harris, sister-in-law Tracey, brother-in-law (by marriage) Terry, brother-in-law Chuck (Star), cousin Brian Krushin and family, best friends Dennis and Corrine Sansome (Tracy, Shelley, Sammy), long-time friends Richard and Gail Dalebozik (Kelly and James), ex-wife Linda, friends, Ferd, Deitre, Jack, Richard, Mark, and countless others who helped create his full life. Many thanks go to Dr. Susan Fair for her lifetime care and refusal to give up. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 2:30 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Rev. Alan Armstrong officiating. Because of his love for cats and other animals during his lifetime, in lieu of flowers, Bob would love that a donation be made to the new Humane Society. Don't be sad, have a drink on me! CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I knew Marie and Johnny through my dad, and was at Rob's wedding as a kid. I remember the reception room as red (Prosvita Hall?). When I was teenager and obsessed with computers, Robbie took me to see Basic Four minicomputers where he worked and gave me books about computer programming. Super cool! I've long imagined someday taking a drive to Booster Lake to reminisce about fishing trips there with my dad and "Uncle" Johnny back in the days when getting to the lake was a mile hike through bush. I imagined taking some beer and driving where Google said Robbie had a cottage after the road was built, and seeing if he'd remember me. Alas that is not to be. My condolences to friends and family. - Posted by: Brian Wowk (Family Friend) on: Oct 01, 2021

  • A few years ago, I received Bob's help to solve a computer programming problem. Today his hand continues to help me in my work. I didn't know him and he helped me even if he didn't know me. While seeking to find his email address again, I discovered his passing. That makes me very sad... Many thanks Bob. Rest in peace!
