GRACE SLEEMAN Grace, widow of George, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 28, 2008, at the age of 88 years. Grace was born in Winnipeg at the General Hospital on January 11, 1920, the daughter of Joe and Josephine (Jacobe) Gatto. She received her education in the city and alternated working as a waitress and seamstress before finding her soul mate at a dance hall in 1950. Grace married George on March 17, 1951, and they made their home here in the city raising her daughter, Corinne, and stepson, Barry. After retiring, Grace and her husband enjoyed traveling, spending the summers at the cabin and winters in Texas and Florida. Grace leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Corinne (Bob) Squires, stepson Barry (Linda) Aikens, grandchildren, Jason (Kim), Jamie (Vonnie), Hope (B.J.); as well as five great-grandsons, Sheldon, Ried, Tyson, Jessi, and Colby. Also left to mourn Grace's passing are her grandchildren from her stepson, Kim, Donna and their family. She is also survived by sister-in-law Emily, nieces, Bev and Marlene, and nephew Joe. Grace was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her husband George. Thank you to the Victoria Hospital and Homecare of Winnipeg and the RM of MacDonald for all your care and compassion. A memorial service for Grace will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Interment will be held in Green Acres Cemetery at a later date.
