To My Loving Husband BERT BASAROWICH June 10, 1937 January 28, 2008 Bert peacefully passed away at the age of 70 with his loving wife and family at his side. Bert battled a lengthy illness with cancer. Left to mourn are his wife Irene Maria, his mother Annie, his father-in-law Joe Serpa and his children, Elaine (Mike), Valerie (Clint), Kelvin, Joe (Karen), Paul (Sandra), grand-children, Sean, Nicole, Scott, Lindsey, Matt, Tyler, James, Irene and Aaron. He is also survived by sisters and brother and their spouses, Jean Dell and Rudy, Ed and Carol Basarowich, Eileen and Joe Kolopenuk, sister-in-law Maria (Don) Borges and the Serpa Family as well as his many nieces and nephews. Bert was predeceased by his father Nick and mother-in-law Olivia and brothers-in-law Mike Dell and Arlindo Serpa. Bert worked hard all his life at truck driving then later opened a landscaping business. Bert and his wife Irene Maria then retired to Winnipeg Beach, where he enjoyed his apple trees, country fresh air, his family and especially his grandchildren. Bert will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Irene Maria would like to thank Dr. Wong and staff at CancerCare and the St. Boniface B5 Ward and Palliative Care for the extra care of Bert and herself. Prayers will be said Friday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Ave. with interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bert's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital.
