HARRY STEKLER A life taken too soon. It is with great sadness and with great gratitude for having been given time with this wonderful man, we announce the passing of Harry Ernest Stekler after a brief battle with Brain Cancer on January 28, 2008. Harry will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Gail Stekler (nee Shewchuk), daughters, Jennifer (TJ), Heather (Jeremiah) and Sara (Mike), stepchildren, Paige, D'Arcy and Samantha and grandchildren, Brayden, Kobe, and Riley and Dylan and Hailey. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Cheryl and Kathy, Nancy Wattman (Tony) and Bruce as well as his niece Christina. He was predeceased by his parents Olga and Ernest. Harry was born in Edmonton, but spent most of his life in Winnipeg. He loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises. In the summer he enjoyed spending time in the backyard, gardening and sitting by the pond. He had a passion for movies and loved to watch the Blue Bombers play. Gail would like to say a special thank you to her sisters, Valerie Meiners and Debbie Brown for all their love and support during the last nine months. A memorial service in honour of Harry's life will be held Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory may be made to The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada at www.braintumor.ca.
