ALTHEA LORRAINE DEMEYER (nee ARMSTRONG) It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Althea DeMeyer on December 7, 2007 at home in Oyama, BC with her loving husband by her side. Daughter of Larry and Doreen Armstrong. Born in Winnipeg on April 29,1942. Althea is survived by Walter her husband and best friend of 45 years; daughter Kimberly; son Shane (Leslie and Cole); father Larry (Edna); sister Yvonne; brother Brett (Vee), mother-in-law Minnie; sisters-in-law, Denise (Ray), Vi (Murray) and Sue and their families. She was predeceased by her mother Doreen, brother Darrell and sister-in-law Debbie, father-in-law Andy, stepfather-in-law Gunnar and brother-in-law Arthur. Althea and Wally met in the Armed Forces while stationed in Lac St. Denis, Quebec. While stationed in France, Althea and Wally married on December 8, 1962. They were stationed in many places such as Metz, France, Yorkton, SK, Beaverlodge, AB, North Bay, ON and Prince George, BC. Prior to her retirement Althea worked for Canada Post in Prince George. Althea and Wally retired to Oyama, BC in 1996. They travelled extensively and enjoyed trips to Australia, Portugal, and winters in Arizona. Together they enjoyed many camping trips around BC and across Canada. They most recently bought a beautiful property on the Shuswap River where they had planned to spend their summers. They always made time and returned home to visit with family and friends in Manitoba and Ontario annually. She will be remembered for many things, among them: Her love and devotion to her husband and children, and her loyalty and generosity to her family. She enjoyed doing crafts, painting and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks for the loving care extended by the health care professionals at the Kelowna General Hospital. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring of 2008. To be announced.
