Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED EDNA DANDO Mildred passed away peacefully on December 30, 2007, at 82 years of age, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband Jim, two sons, Ken (Linda), and Doug (Cheryl), and daughter Mary as well as her grandchildren Sarah (Robert), Adrienne, Katherine (Martin), Sheila (Titi), Carla (Stephen), Shawn and Jason and her precious great-granddaughters Edie and Lucy. Mildred was born September 25, 1925 and raised on the family farm near Waskada. She graduated from the Waskada High School and her first job was with the Royal Bank in Waskada. She married Jim Dando on November 17, 1945. Mildred worked side by side with Jim throughout their marriage. They started their married life farming at Waskada, later moved to Melita as owners of the Robinson Store and in retirement enjoyed many happy years at Lake Metigoshe. In 2002 they moved to their home in Winnipeg to be closer to family. During their 62 year marriage Jim and Mildred were the model of a successful and loving couple, always together and enjoying each other's company. As a mother, her quiet loving actions nurtured the family as it grew. Mildred always expressed delight in getting together with others and had the ability to make everyone feel they were very special. She enjoyed family gatherings, celebrating special occasions and hearing about the latest family news. Mildred had a special bond with her grandchildren as they were growing up, including rights of passage trips in the motor home, and spending lazy summer days at the lake The warm hospitality extended by Jim and Mildred to friends and family have left us all with many fond memories. Cremation has taken place and a service was held January 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Road United Church, Winnipeg. Interment will be held at Waskada cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Good Bye Mum, you have earned your rest.
