JAMES EDWARD (TED) GESSLER With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearly loved husband and father Ted Gessler on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Surrounded by family and friends, his brave and determined battle with cancer has finally come to an end. Ted will be sadly missed by his devoted wife and best friend Sandy and his three daughters, Dayna, Kathryn and Suzanne and their partners, Sam Poitevent, Dean Barry and Mike Sochocki. Born in Winnipeg, Ted grew up in Norwood attending Nordale School and Nelson MacIntyre Collegiate. He went on to have a successful professional practice for over 35 years, tirelessly serving his clients, many of whom became lifelong friends. An avid golfer, classic movie buff, and good neighbour, Ted was quiet by nature and showed his love and caring to those around him through acts of kindness and generosity. His stoicism and wry sense of humour during his illness were typical of his approach to life. We thank all of Ted's caregivers at CancerCare Manitoba and the staff of 8A, St. Boniface Hospital. We also extend our sincere gratitude to all those who helped his family through the past ten months. Ted will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. For those who wish, donations can be made in Ted's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to Save Our Seine Inc. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road in Winnipeg.
