KAY SAS On Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Holy Family Home, Kay passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, John (Melody), Michael (Trish); grand-children, Irene, Matthew (Robert) and Alyson. Kay was predeceased by her husband Peter; brothers Nick and John; sisters Nastia, Rose and Anne; stepbrother Andrew; stepsisters Kay, Ann and Sophie; half-brother Walter; half-sisters Doris, Justine and Olga. Mom was born December 5, 1913 on a ship, three days prior to arriving in Canada. She arrived with her mother and brother Nick. They then journeyed to their homestead in Poplarfield, MB, where they joined the rest of the family. At the age of 13, Mom moved to Winnipeg to work as a housekeeper. She subsequently earned enough money to take up hairdressing at Pollock School of Beauty, and thus began a 50 year career. Most of the years were spent in her own business, Silhouette Beauty Salon, 508 Selkirk Ave. Mom met Dad in the Point Douglas area of Winnipeg and on June 1, 1935 they were married and shared 45 years together before Dad passed away. They had two sons John and Michael. Both Mom and Dad loved to entertain as was evident in their numerous gatherings held at their home on Selkirk Avenue. The food was plentiful and delicious. Mom always enjoyed the sun. Mom and Dad had a cabin for many years at Grand Beach, where many more enjoyable family gatherings were held. She also loved to travel to sunny destinations, namely, Hawaii, Florida and cruising to Bermuda and the Caribbean. Mom was particularly proud of her grandchildren Irene, Matthew and Alyson. She watched with pride as they grew and evolved into adulthood. There will be a private family interment. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Mom's life on Monday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff on the 4th floor of Holy Family Home, who provided such compassionate care for Mom. Flowers gratefully declined. If you so desire, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9, or a charity of your choice. She was always there, our Mother, Her heart so big and tender She dedicated her life to her family And we, whom she loved will forever remember. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
