MYKOLA PISAK 1924 - 2008 Mykola Pisak nicknamed (Nick) passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mykola is survived by his daughter Gina (Boyden) Fylypczuk and their three children of Nottingham, England, his son Bohdan (Allison) of Burnaby, BC and his brother Peter and sisters, Sophia and Katherine who live in the Ukraine. Mykola was born in March of 1924 in the village of Wikniany Ivana Frankiwska Oblasti, Ukraine. Mykola's childhood was spent on a farm with his parents, Mykola and Stasa. During the Second World War Mykola served as a member of the Ukrainian National Army under Pete Brodime. By 1948 Mykola arrived in England, married and had two children, Gina and Bohdan. In 1955 Mykola together with his wife and family moved to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mykola was a proud and responsible husband and father and quickly found employment in the construction industry. His strong work ethic led him to the position of foreman in the roofing industry until his retirement. Regretfully the marriage could not endure all of the transitions and Mykola was left to parent his son from age two. He embraced his son and gave him the best of care in every circumstance. While living in England Mykola had trained as a tailor and consequently tailored all garments for his son including suits and winter coats, until he reached age 12. During summers Mykola reserved Sundays for driving to the beach, enjoying a picnic and swimming in the lake with his son. In the fall trips were made to the amusement park in Lockport with stops at the farmer's market to purchase fresh produce. In winter, tobogganing was enjoyed at Lockport then back to Winnipeg for a Ukrainian meal at a local diner. In retirement Mykola enjoyed working outside in his yard nurturing his tomato plants, he frequently traveled abroad and enjoyed his membership at the Winnipeg Ukrainian Club where he attended every Wednesday to visit friends. A special thanks to all the health care professionals at Victoria General Hospital for supporting Mykola. Prayers will be held on Monday February 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel with Father Kolisnyk officiating. Service will be held on Tuesday February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Hope you are doing well and I often think of you, regards, Gaby - Posted by: Gaby (Friend of Bohdan) on: Nov 28, 2019
